I may not recover. But then again I haven't looked back at past trips to see how much we spent to compare. Maybe it's not THAT much??!! HAHAHA!
Regardless, this trip is going to be fantastic. We will finally see DaVinci's "The Last Supper" in Milan, as well as compare the Park Hyatt Milan to our INCOMPARABLE stay in Vienna. Better step it up, Park Hyatt Milan!
I'll finally realize my irrational dream of walking (boating) through the door of the Gritti Palace in Venice as an elite guest. TITANIUM ELITE, no less. Stupid name. I have hazy memories of the Gritti from 20 years ago...longingly gazing at her beautiful facade as I floated by on the vaporetti along with every other tourist. She seemed so out of reach then. This is going to be a very special stay.
The Gritti Palace
After 3 glorious nights in Venice we ferry over to Croatia. We are late to the Croatia Craze and expect to run into everyone we know there. Game of Thrones is really popular, right?!! I have packed Wine Skins and intend to bring back 5 bottles of grk from Korcula. I booked 5 nights at the Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik in order to take advantage of the Hilton 5th Night Free perk on award stays. Do we NEED 5 nights in Dubrovnik? NO - but we will see the city before and after the cruise ship crowds are gone, and one day we have booked a day trip to Montenegro.
Almost 1 MILLION POINTS! OUCH!
Lastly, I spent a fair amount of money booking a private transfer/tour from Dubrovnik to Mostar. I researched all the options between the two cities, and it just seemed like we were going to spend hours on a hot/inefficient bus and learn nothing about the country, OR hire a private transfer service/guide combo, which is what we chose to do. Bosnia is a complicated country, and we are looking forward to learning more about it from a local. I feel the information we get from our guide Camil on this leg of the journey will afford us the ability to make a good decision about tours/sights in Sarajevo a couple of days later.
Thanks for reading, friends. I'll post pics/commentary as we go. Be well.
